Enjoy Your Room Odorisor For Longer
Veteran poppers fans and newbies alike should read here to find out how best to keep poppers fresh for longer. This article is all about optimal poppers storage.
Why Is Room Odorisor Storage Important?
Why should you even worry about any of this? Does it really make a difference? Well, there are multiple aspects to consider:
- Aroma loss – the aroma of the poppers is best preserved through good storage.
- Diminishing strength – badly stored poppers may lose their potency much more quickly than those kept in appropriate conditions.
- Side effects risk – poorly stored poppers are more likely to denature in a way that could lead to unwanted side effects when used.
- Evaporation – a poor seal leads to rapid loss of liquid to the surrounding air.
- Contamination of other items – the strong smell of poppers can have a contaminating effect on other objects through exposure.
It’s important to note that these considerations apply to every type of poppers (amyl nitrite, butyl nitrite, pentyl nitrite, propyl nitrite, etc.) and regardless of the brand (Liquid Gold, Purple Haze, TNT, Hi-Tech, etc.). Whichever kind you’re keeping, it’s important that you heed our advice and store your poppers correctly.
What’s the Best Way to Store Room Odorisor?
Alkyl nitrites (poppers) are liquid at room temperature, but they evaporate quite quickly when left in the open air. So, the first tip here is that you should have your poppers bottle open for no longer than necessary for use, and you should always close your poppers bottles tightly so that an airtight seal is formed.
Perishing poppers?
Room Odorisor are perishable and will eventually expire even if never opened, but once opened they begin to perish much more quickly. Because of this we recommend that you keep your bottle of poppers for no longer than about a month after first opening. For the same reason we advise that, once opened, you keep your poppers bottles in a second airtight container to minimise the atmospheric exposure of the poppers in case of an imperfect seal on the bottle. This measure also protects the bottle’s surroundings from contamination by the strong poppers aroma (discussed below).
Room Odorisor and Heat
Another important storage point: keep your poppers cool. At warm temperatures poppers evaporate much more quickly and the rate of chemical breakdown is increased, meaning they won’t retain their potency for anywhere near as long as poppers kept in a cool environment. We advise that you store your poppers in a fridge to maintain a consistently cool temperature, keeping your poppers fresher for longer.
Avoiding Smell Hell
The aroma of alkyl nitrites being very strong, you should store your poppers away from easily contaminated items. For example, it is inadvisable to keep your poppers in the same fridge as your food – unless the bottles are first placed in a second airtight container. For the same reason, you should store your poppers in a well-ventilated room. If there’s a leak, the last thing you want is to have the poppers odour filling a poorly ventilated space and permeating your upholstery, curtains, etc.
Storage and Safety
As nitrites are highly flammable, it’s important that you do not store them near to any source of heat or ignition to minimise the risk of fire. And while the small, colourful bottles may appear attractive to children, poppers are absolutely not for kids, so you must ensure that your poppers are always kept out of the reach of children. If a child does access the poppers and you believe they may have ingested some, you must immediately call a doctor.
